First ever price ceremony in Sápmi Experience
February 1 - we celebrate the first group of Sápmi Experience companies!
Tourism is an industry not always in harmony with Sámi work. Sometimes it disturbs reindeer herding. Sometimes it creates land conflicts. Then we have non-Sámi doing Sámi tourism both misinterpreting and ridiculing our traditions. And not much money from tourism ends up with the Sámi. So we have decided to take responsibility for Sámi traditions in tourism. We work with local Sámi Villages. We have signed an agreement with VisitSweden how to market Sámi tourism abroad. And we have created a quality label for Sámi tourism – Sápmi Experience. February 1 we celebrate the first nine companies approved by VisitSápmi.
These companies deliver responsible, sustainable and quality secured Sámi tourism. These companies offer genuine Sámi experiences.
Sámi culture is a unique experience that Scandinavia can offer international travelers. All are welcome now when we can meet with mutual respect.
