Sápmi - the land
Sápmi cover 4 different countries; Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia. It is in these areas that reindeer herding is practiced. The Sámi did travel freely across borders until the 19:th century when governments wanted to control use of land and start exploitation of minerals, forests and other resources.
