Hunting trips to Sápmi

Even though there are vast resources for hunting trips organized by Sámi hunters restrictions and laws make commercial hunting trips few. The Sámi hunter is generally speaking an excellent hunting guide since hunting has been a way of life since ancient times. Modern equipment is used and safety regulations are in place.
The possibilities for Sámi hunters to sell hunting trips vary in Sápmi due to different policies from regional governments. A law was also passed in the early 1990: is allowing the public to hunt small game on Sámi hunting grounds in the mountains. It is ptarmigan that has been the main prey. The Sámi oppose this breach into Sámi traditional rights and have protested the large increase in numbers of Swedish and foreign hunters during autumn into Sámi hunting and reindeer herding land.
Still, Sámi are not opposed to offer hunting experiences done in a sustainable way, ethical way and so it does not conflict with reindeer herding.
Some companies that offer moose and ptarmigan hunting experiences are available particularly in southern parts of Sápmi.
